Kid-friendly HP Lovecraft?! What a time to be alive... EDIT: So I watched this with my boyfriend, and now I can give a better review. I understand that this is a kid's movie and that I, as an adult, won't always enjoy certain kid's movies. However, as a HP Lovecraft fan I really had some high hopes. Anyone who's read Lovecraft's work would understand how I could find a kid-friendly Lovecraft movie to be a wacky idea and something of a novelty. Unfortunately, the animation could have been a lot better, and while there was some action toward the beginning, the movie wound up dragging after Howard ended up in R'Lyeh and met a family of squid creatures. It was around this point that I gave up on the movie because there was a lot of talking but no action. For family-friendly halloween movies, I'd give this a pass. Try "Scooby Doo on Zombie Island", "Hocus Pocus", or "Halloween Town". For children's animated TV shows with a spooky theme, try "Beetlejuice" (not as graphic as the movie--I watched this when I was a kid!) or "Courage the Cowardly Dog".
