keep in mind this is a criterion edition dvd. this means that the extra features thoroughly illuminate the film. and there are many. Cynthia Stevenson got the short end of the stick in this flick. obviously, I mean the character she played. I never heard, though, that she had much of a career after doing this altman film. she is so loveable here, and so much so that she's nigh unto adorable. so, what's a girl like her doing in a place as cold and ruthless as Hollywood is portrayed, here. Tim Robbins gets some mud on his dong (watch for it, all you incipient queers) ; but, I have to say, his characterization throughout is a consistent one, and he carries the theme, all on his lonesome, merely by the use of his reaction shots. Greta was much better in PRESUMED INNOCENT (also recommended by moi): the character she is asked to play is actually a fictional one within a fiction film (something Bruce Willis and Julia Roberts did in a film within the film, called HABEAS CORPUS. if you are a film buff, you should have this in your viewed section of your life. Ain't no CASABLANCA, nor a CITIZEN CANE, but how often are those made in history??
