One of Agatha Christie's personal favorites, Endless Night is a critically acclaimed classic crime thriller from the beloved queen of mystery. When penniless Michael Rogers discovers the beautiful house at Gypsy's Acre and then meets the heiress Ellie, it seems that all his dreams have come true at once. But he ignores an old woman's warning of an ancient curse, and evil begins to stir in paradise. As Michael soon learns: Gypsy's Acre is the place where fatal "accidents" happen.

" Ellie looked grief-stricken, horribly taken aback. But I wasn't taken in. I saw at once that Greta was having a bit of fun with us. If the thought just flashed across my mind for a moment that her kind of fun wasn't very kind, it hardly had time to take root. Greta burst out laughing, a high musical laugh that made people turn their heads and look at us./ 'You should have seen your faces,' she said, 'especially yours, Ellie. I have to tease you just a little. It's a wonderful house, lovely. That man's a genius.'/ 'Yes, ' I said, ' he's something out of the ordinary. Wait till you meet him.' / ' I have met him,' said Greta. ' He was down there the day that I went. Yes, he's an extraordinary person. Rather frightening, don't you think?'/ ' Frightening?' I said, surprised. ' In what way?'/ 'Oh, I don't know. It's as though he looks through you and--well, sees right through to the other side. That's always disconcerting.' Then she added, 'He looks rather ill.'

Another fine twist ending by Agatha the Queen of mystery. Grand characters.

Way, way too much set-up. Ellie's family financial details are not necessary.

What starts out as an entertaining love story between the narrator and the love of his life ends off with a devastating murder and shocking reveal. Endless Night entertains straight from the start, though the murder takes place late in the story. However, the story is kind of lessened due to the fact that it recycles plot elements and twists from my two favourite Agathe Christie books: "The Murder Of Roger Ackroyd" and "Death On The Nile". Still, it's pretty good.

Slow to get in to, but worth the wait.

Agatha Christie is one of my favorite authors, but this is the only book she wrote so far I could not finish! The main character endlessly subjects us with his inner thoughts. His most constant yearning is to find a girl and build himself a special house in which they are to live. Doesn't seem so silly, does it? Well, after the tenth time you read it you will feel like throwing the book at the wall. He constantly revolves on this single subject, going on and on, a spiral of irritating, repetitive sameness. The reader is subjected to excruciatingly long passages of soliloquy, that lead nowhere. I don't read Christie's books for her deep analysis of characters, so I gave up after twenty pages.

Awesome story. But all Christie novels are awesome.

This book isn't what springs to mind when you think 'Agatha Christie', but that doesn't mean it's not fantastic. A tense, and (near the end) frightening, story.
