"A celebration of the acclaimed television and radio news program Democracy Now! and the extraordinary movements and heroes who have moved our democracy forward. In 1996 Amy Goodman began hosting a show on Pacifica Radio called Democracy Now! to focus on the issues and movements that are too often ignored by the corporate media. Today Democracy Now! is the largest public media collaboration in the US, broadcasting on over 1,400 public television and radio stations around the world, with millions accessing it online at Now Amy, along with her journalist brother, David, and co-author Denis Moynihan, share stories of the heroes -- the whistleblowers, the organizers, the protesters -- who have brought about remarkable change. This important book looks back over the past two decades of Democracy Now! and the powerful movements and charismatic leaders who are re-shaping our world. Goodman takes the reader along as she goes to where the silence is, bringing out voices from the streets of Ferguson to Staten Island, Wall Street, South Carolina to East Timor -- and other places where people are rising up to demand justice. Democracy Now! is the modern day underground railroad of information, bringing stories from the grassroots to a global audience."--provided by publisher.

Excellent book, well informative. I have trouble remembering the importance of the bits and pieces, putting all these facts in a comprehensive format with purpose, takes courage and hard work. I appreciate the dedication to the media, the public, truth, and ethical annotation of credible and scholarly news information. Well done!

I am still in the process of reading the book. There are so many facts and I have to go back and study the other pages. Life in Boston, always on the go! I am grateful for the research that has been put together, thanks!

Personally, I super appreciate Amy's documentation and hard work, I was always so busy during these years that I barely could watch the news and caught some headlines. I have always counted on God to help us through and Amy was able to snapshot and capture some very good stories and event.s

Eastern Tiemor, if I spelled correctly... I hope to one day meet Amy Goodman in a formal introduction. :)

Interesting book, worth reading but I admit to some strong suspicions concerning Ms. Goodman's reportage - - yes, she does have on the occasional David Talbot or Nomi Prins [although giving Ms. Prins far too short of time on air], and infrequently others, but frequently her show comes off as CNN Lite, reporting on the same banal stuff on a most superficial level.
An example of why I wonder how much those foundations' influence her: when WikiLeaks' Julian Assange was in the news with Sweden's [and that's the Swedish government - - there have been ZERO individual plaintiffs against him] extradition attempts, Goodman's show hosted the excellent Naomi Wolf, feminist author, arguing on Assange's behalf, and Jaclyn Friedman, an unkown supposed author and poet - - a self-described hardcore Lesbian who claimed to have been sexually assaulted as in college she went out on a drinking spree with the all-male college wrestling team and awokened to view a sleeping guy run his hand down her jean-clad leg?!?!
Friedman is published through Perseus Books, then owned by Perseus LLC, which was the listed business contact address for American Friends of Bilderberg, Inc. - - directors: David Rockefeller, Henry Kissinger, Richard Perle, et al.
Goodman never mentions this stuff?
