The Spanish Empire in the 1600's was a superpower, a dominant force in world affairs commanding numerous far-flung colonies, importing untold wealth in gold and silver from the Americas, and imposing brutal slavery. One man, legendary pirate Henry Morgan, commanding a ragtag group of cutthroats, adventurers, sociopaths, and runaway slaves, brought this mighty empire to its knees. Operating with the blessing of the English government, Morgan and his buccaneers were based in the legendary pirate stronghold of Port Royal, Jamaica.

Found this book to be quite enjoyable and on the face of it, well-documented. The story arc lags a bit once Morgan dies, but it doesn't detract from what is on the whole, a highly entertaining story.

Wasn't a fan of the fictional pirate character, and the chapter about the fall of Port Royale after his death dragged. However, pretty entertaining and adventure filled.

A very solid account of the privateering career of Henry Morgan, more widely known as a pirate. Also a reasonable source of information on Port Royal, Jamaica and other major players and places in the career of Morgan, though the primary focus is on Morgan.

Didn't make it to the end, managed 3 of 5 discs and then lost interest....
