Good acting, great cast, incredibly dull and accents and dialogue fasetious. Should be titled : Famous actors caught in romantic intrigue created by non-ending wind created by mixed drinks, cigarette smoking by the illusion of wealth…

This movie treats the objectification and abuse of women as normal. Katherine Hepburn's character is gaslighted by her father (it's her fault he's a philanderer) and her ex-husband (it's her fault he couldn't control his alcoholism). The…

Mediocre movie in spite of the cast of Hepburn, Stewart and Grant. I thought it would be funny like "Bringing up Baby" but this movie doesn't deliver. Katherine Hepburn was stunning to look at but Stewart and Grant seemed flat. Watching…

Not to my liking. The 3 ⭐️s upstaged and overpowered each other. Jimmy Stewart received a pity Oscar for Best Actor for a supporting part.

This romantic comedy from 1940 starring three powerhouse actors Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart and of course told with the place of women and hi society being true to 1940. I still enjoyed the film and found it historically…

I suppose it was an acceptable movie at the time based on the quality of the 3 main actors who played their roles well. Subtle humour was evident although perhaps not totally understood. A pretty predictable movie and worth watching to…

This movie doesn't age well. It starts with domestic violence: Cary Grant leaving his home in a rage. Katharine Hepburn also in a rage throwing his golf clubs after him and breaking one of them over her leg. Grant then grabs her face and…

Another Cary Grant movie where he proves he really doesn't love any of his leading ladies, good 1940's movie

A great movie, loads of fun, intelligent, upbeat, funny, serious, good character, good morals, a very mannerly love triangle among mature adults. I love this movie so much I bought it on Amazon!

If you like watching screwball comedies from Hollywood's heyday, then, "The Philadelphia Story" is sure to keep you thoroughly entertained from start to finish. Featuring a good cast and an entertaining story-line - This 1939 Rom/Com is…

The screwball comedy that screwball comedy haters often like, usually because the heroine gets her comeuppance. Look at her: a beautiful, intelligent, independent, sophisticated woman! What right has she to be like that? Boo! I don't want…

Directed by George Cukor in 1940 based on the 1939 Broadway play of the same name by Philip Barry, this American dramedy delves into the situation in which a wealthy snobbish woman expects a wedding when her ex-husband and a tabloid…

(*Favorite movie quote*) - "You'd have to be as rich as the Lord's to live in a dump like this." Released in 1940 - Though I'm far from being a fan of "Screwball" comedy, I found that I actually enjoyed "The Philadelphia Story" ("TPS")…

The fiery Hepburn, the charming Grant and the absolutely incomparable James Stewart, star in this delightful romantic comedy. I enjoyed it until the end. This set also includes a bonus biography of Hepburn. These are the types of films…

VERY GOOD 1941 romantic comedy (later remade as 1956's High Society - which I will soon be watching). This was interesting period piece film about rich Old Philadelphia money/families. And it was my introduction to beautiful actress Ruth…

This part screw-ball, part high society satire film may be a little too sophisticated for today’s film audiences. James Steward won an Oscar for best actor and Katherine Hepburn was Oscar nominated for best Actress. They are both superb in…

Released in 1940 - Though I'm far from being a fan of "Screwball" comedy, I found that I actually enjoyed The Philadelphia Story (TPS) for the most part. Containing plenty of smart, rapid-fire dialogue, TPS was certainly a well-crafted,…

Honestly, this movie enticed me enough to begin a whole new journey in a realm called "Old movies" ;) It was remarkably amusing and held my attention throughout. If you have time, WATCH IT. If you have more time, WATCH IT AGAIN!!! :D

My first viewing of this film, which obviously stood out from the mass of other films of the times. Good acting, great story.

Brilliantly funny classic, one of the best films ever made. Outstanding writing, sharp banter, and one of the best casts ever assembled for one film.

This is one of my favourite oldies. I usually don't much enjoy romantic comedies, but this one is smart and entertaining. Equally good is its later catchy-musical remake 'High Society' with Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby and grace Kelly :)
