Tinker, Design, Create: 3D Printing Adventures

3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Mitchell Park Library

Description

Join us for a hands-on program designed for 3rd to 5th graders to explore the exciting world of Computer-Aided Design (CAD), 3D printing, and the engineering design process! This four-day workshop will run consecutively from June 19-22, meeting from 3-5pm each day. Please note that each session builds upon skills learned in previous classes, so participants should plan to attend all four days of the workshop.

Using the user-friendly software Tinkercad, participants will learn to design and prototype their own creations—starting with personalized name tags and progressing to designing fidget toys and other supportive products for individuals with autism. These creations will be brought to life through 3D printing at the Palo Alto makerspace, MakeX, and donated to a local autism center to support individuals who benefit from these tools.

Parents are asked to provide laptops for their children, or to check out a library Chromebook ahead of time for each class. Through engaging lessons and collaborative problem-solving, students will develop technical skills, unleash their creativity and experience the joy of helping others.

Spaces are limited, so sign up today to spark your child's curiosity and creativity in this exciting learning adventure!
