Ready to dig up the funny? Sue Barizon reveals her best excavation tools for unearthing humor buried deep—even in the darkest corners of your story. Designed for fiction writers, memoirists, poets, and storytellers of all genres, this workshop explores different types of comedy and shows how humor can recharge the brain in tough moments and transform tension on the page. Through lively writing exercises and plenty of shared laughs, you’ll tap into your natural comic instinct and leave ready to bring wit, spark, and sparkle to your work.

Sue, a native San Franciscan, writes memoir with a poignant sense of humor from her first-generation Italian childhood. Her work has been published in The Sun Literary Magazine, the Carry the Light anthologies, CWC SF/Peninsula’s Fault Zone series, Spirited Voices and the California Literary Review. Numerous Literary Stage awards at the San Mateo County Fair include 2013 Writer of the Year and Best of Show. She’s appeared in the CWC’s Readers' Theater: Women's Journeys and San Mateo County Library’s Story Café.

California Writers Club-San Francisco Peninsula Branch members give presentations on the third Thursday of the month for anyone interested in writing. Writers Helping Writers resume for their third year giving excellent advice and pointers on writing, publishing marketing and more.
