Experience the rich traditions of Persian, Tajik, and Afghan dance in a vibrant program celebrating music and movement. The program will include performances by Ballet Afsaneh and Amir School of Music. 

  • Introduction 
  • Persian Dance 
  • Tajik Dance 
  • Drum Dance 
  • Afghan Dance 
  • Short Lecture about the different clothing worn by dancers, followed by Q & A
  • Explanation of Afghan Attan, a short class, followed by an open invitation for attendees to join us in dancing Attan
  • Daf and Rhythms

The event will take place at the Mitchell Park Bowl.

About Ballet Afsaneh

Founded in 1986 and incorporated as a non-profit in 1991, Ballet Afsaneh is a San Francisco Bay Area ensemble showcasing the dance, music, and poetry of the Silk Road. Their repertoire spans traditional and contemporary works from cultures across Eurasia, blending ancient art forms with modern dance. The company performs nationally and internationally at festivals, universities, and special events.
