Family Craft: Día de Los Muertos Flower Crown

4:30 PM – 5:00 PM

Join Librarian Alicia on Friday, October 22 at 4:30PM on our Facebook page for a live-stream family craft. This event will be live-streamed, so follow along with your materials at home!

For this craft, we will be making a Día de los Muertos Flower Crown. Originating from Mexico, Día de los Muertos (also known as Day of the Dead), is a celebration honoring loved ones that have passed away. The holiday begins on November 1st and ends on November 2nd. To honor their loved ones, people decorate their hair with beautiful flowers and paint their faces in the likeness of the Calaveras, ornately decorated sugar skulls.

Materials needed:

  • A plain, unadorned headband
  • Assorted artificial flowers (6-8 flowers, or more depending on how full you want it) and greenery for in between the flowers
  • Green or silver craft wire
  • Wire cutters

Children must be supervised due to the materials and tools used in this family craft.
