I am a huge fan of black and white movies, and Jean Arthur has made some great ones, but these are pretty poor and rather depressing. Too bad.

An entertaining, humorous and refreshingly innocent movie. Ginger Rogers does a brilliant job of playing a teenager!

I love this book! It has strong characters with severe challenges, and a creative, moving plot. Two women, one older, one younger, nudge each other to have healthier attitudes toward life and themselves. Julia, an introverted professor of fiction writing in South Carolina, is on a year sabbatical, planning a trip to New England to see author’s homes. She definitely did not plan on her grand-niece Carmen disrupting her safe, orderly life. Carmen is suffering deeply from losing her father, feeling alone, and carrying a secret. The ending is unexpected and creative, but believable. This book it was a treat, a typical Jamie Langston Turner book--I didn't want it to end. Excellent writing, plot, character development, the book is current, relevant, gripping, realistic, satisfying and inspiring.I love this book! A great movie, loads of fun, intelligent, upbeat, funny, serious, good character, good morals, a very mannerly love triangle among mature adults. I love this movie so much I bought it on Amazon!

It had its moments, but was a bit of a disappointment. I haven't read the book by Nick Hornby (brilliant, perceptive, honest writer) so I don't know how much the movie followed it, but the trailer made it seem like it was a light comedy. [Semi-spoiler follows] Unfortunately, after the enjoyable beginning, the plot focused on the dark reality of the former rock star's life. The incredibly self-absorbed guy thought that if he moped enough and was cute enough there would be no long-lasting consequences for his previous actions, and he could still luck out and get the girl. The female lead grew so much during the story, but I think she wimped out at the end. Luckily I love Ethan Hawke's acting, and Ayoola Smart played her role perfectly, so that made up for it somewhat. It had its moments, but was a bit of a disappointment. Disappointing, Ashley Judd's character was rather flaky and wishy-washy, and instead of a G rating, it should have been about 14A.

Not recommended. I tried both the downloaded eBook and the online book and the links did not work on either. As a result, whatever "choice" I made sent me to a page that was unrelated to what I'd been reading, making absolutely no sense of the story. Also, for being a Regency romance, I'd assumed I wouldn't have to deal with the usual low-brow cringeworthy sexual innuendos and scenes, but it was "R rated" or worse. Skip this one.Not recommended. Highly recommended! Every one of the 20+ Georgette Heyer books I've read has been great, and this is one of her very best! Frederica is a typical Heyer heroine, with an independent spirit, unconcerned about societies' expectations of her as a woman. Although disinterested in marriage herself, she takes responsibility for getting her stunningly beautiful but naive sister married to a worthy man, and attempts to instill manners in her younger brothers--and the family dog! Quite funny and a quality read not to be missed!Highly recommended! Every one of the 20+ Georgette Heyer books I've read has been great, and this is one of her very best!
